Free Skin Beauty Tips! 02/04/2012
We spend hundreds, perhaps thousands, on professional skin care products in an attempt to repair our skin from the harmful influences of life, stress, and age. However, do we adhere to simple skin beauty tips regularly and consistently? What I am referring to are the basics of skin health: hydration, vitamins, and sleep. While professional skin care products may make good on their promises of younger, smoother skin, they tend to cost a pretty penny. I believe the wonders of water are far underrated. Drinking the typical 8 glasses a day is a start, but go a step further and fill a plant sprayer or mister with filtered water. I spray this on my face frequently throughout the day to hydrate my skin, and to counter some of the environmental dirt and grime that clings to the skin. Have you ever been to a spa or seen someone put slices of cucumbers on their eyes? Doing this feels amazing! Not only do the cucumber slices renew and rejuvenate the eyes but another benefit of this cucumber eye treatment is that the stress relief and relaxation this promotes will reduce your stress thus limiting frown lines and potential wrinkles. As for nutrition, I think we all now the merits of getting a well-balanced diet and ingesting enough nutrients to influence your skin’s appearance. I like to take a generic brand multi-vitamin daily; while I try and eat well, I feel that this daily supplement gives my regimen a little boost. Also, I try and purchase Vitamin E capsules whenever they are on sale or I have a coupon. These are good to have on hand for any skin burns or skin wounds that need some help healing. Vitamin E also has miraculous scar-fading properties; it will diminish the appearance of scars, soothe burns, and promote healing for literally pennies a day. Finally, sleep is the secret weapon that the manufacturers of professional skin care products don’t tell you about! Getting a regular, consistent sleep cycle will lend smoothness and that radiant glow that we all seek. Don’t you love skin beauty tips that are virtually free? Be vigilant about these basic skin beauty tips and you may never spend good money on professional skin care products again! Add Comment How to Look Beautiful without Makeup 10/28/2011
Benefits of a Bare FaceThere are hundreds of tutorials on the internet explaining how to use makeup to create a no-makeup look. Of course, all of these tutorials makes a person wonder why the writers and experts don’t just skip the makeup altogether, instead of providing a long list of products that make your skin look dewy or sun-kissed. So rather than wear makeup that creates the illusion of not having makeup on, maybe you should read about the benefits of staying away from the makeup aisle and keeping a naked face. Who has the Time? Not all women have money to buy a truckload of makeup products, nor do they have the time. We can’t all dedicate 30 minutes in front of a mirror before work or school just to apply makeup because let’s face it: it takes us 30 minutes just to roll out of bed in the morning. And don’t forget that at the end of each day, you’ll need to spend even more time trying to get the products off of your face, which will cost more money as you’ll have to buy makeup remover to get the job done right. Misleading LabelsAlthough the makeup models you see on boxes are beautiful with thick eyelashes, flush cheeks, and perfect eyebrows, there’s no way you’ll be able to look like their picture – even if you spend all day in front of the mirror. Oftentimes, product labels will claim to improve skin tone and texture, but unfortunately, they fail at delivering on those promises. So if you’re expecting perfect outcomes with mascara, you’re going to be disappointed because most of the brushes that are labeled "no clump" will leave you with clumps that have to be worked out with an eyelash brush. Youthful-Looking FaceWomen who choose to go out with no makeup on tend to appear more youthful, compared to women who take the time to apply makeup. You could be adding years to your face by wearing makeup if you’re not using the right foundation formula or shade. After all, some foundations fall into the smallest of creases on your face, which draws attention to the wrong areas. You’ll Get NoticedThe term associated with women who don’t wear makeup is low maintenance, and it’s a compliment. You’ll find that being able to feel confident with no makeup will get you noticed because men like women who are comfortable with the face they were born with. In fact, a lot of men prefer women who aren’t fussing with lipsticks and blushes every time they need to go to the grocery store. Touching Your FaceWhen you don’t wear makeup, you’re able to rub your eye as often as you’d like (although it’s not recommended), and you don’t have to visit the restroom for touchups. Plus your face can become oily with makeup, and this requires oil blotting sheets. For some makeup looks to be complete, you’ll even need fake eyelashes, and when you have an eyelash in your eye, this can become extremely troublesome. How to Look Beautiful without MakeupWhatever your reason for not wearing makeup is, it’s important to still look your best, and be confident with your natural beauty.
beauty-tips.net Natural Weight Loss Vs. Cosmetic Procedures 10/28/2011
There are many people who need to lose weight for health reasons. Being overweight or obese can predispose a person to diabetes, heart disease, joint problems and many other health issues. Once a person decides that losing weight is the best option, he or she has the tough decision of deciding how to lose that weight. Although it may seem like a person is taking the easy road if he or she decides to get smart lipo procedure or gastric bypass, but before making such a drastic decision a person needs to weigh the risks and benefits of each procedure. If a person chooses to get any type of weight loss surgery, he or she first needs to make sure she is healthy enough for it. There are risks associated with any type of surgery and if a person is not healthy, it makes the risks of complications even greater. The person then needs to make sure that he or she chooses a board certified plastic surgeon. Getting surgery at the hands of anyone but a professional is always risky business. The person also needs to take into consideration the price. Procedures like smart lipo and gastric bypass can cost well into the thousands of dollars, so a person needs to make sure that his or her finances are in order. The only advantage that cosmetic weight loss surgery has over natural weight loss is that the results are much quicker. A person who goes under the knife to lose weight will be able to lose drastic amounts of weight in a short amount of time. However, because of the time it takes to find a board certified plastic surgeon and the risks associated with any type of weight loss surgery, it is best that a person try to use natural weight loss methods. If he or she is consistent with them, diet and exercise will work wonders for a person. Although the weight loss is much slower than it would be with weight loss surgery, diet and exercise still have many other advantages over it. There are virtually no side effects, no lengthy recovery time, and they are much cheaper than having cosmetic surgery. For those reasons, natural weight loss methods should be the first choice for the person who is looking to shed pounds. There are a few tricks to following a good diet plan. For example, drinking water before a meal tends to act as an appetite suppressant. Eating more frequently throughout the day will reduce your tendency to snack on unhealthy foods. Similarly, preparing your meals in advance will decrease the likelihood of running to the snack machine between meals. Another important factor in sticking to your diet plan is to refrain from depriving yourself. Our bodies need a little bit of everything, including those foods we are told we shouldn't be eating. It is okay to have a small piece of chocolate daily or to have a diet soda here and there. The key here is moderation. Deprivation diets only lead to binge eating once you have a taste of what you have been avoiding. Winter Skin Care 10/28/2011
Winter Skin Care – Help Your Dry, Itchy SkinWinter skin care requires some changes in your normal skin care routine and product choices. In the winter the humidity drops meaning there’s less moisture in the air. In addition, winter weather usually means blustery and drying winds which are almost like direct attacks on the skin. The result is dry skin and the development of a condition commonly called "winter skin itch". It can be a distressing and uncomfortable condition, but fortunately there are ways to deal with winter that sends the attackers into retreat. Too many people buy one moisturizer and insist on using it year round. One of the first rules of winter skin care is to adapt your beauty care to recognize the change in weather conditions and when the winter comes, use winter moisturizer - instead of the one used in summer. Instead of the light water based conditioners, you should begin using an occlusive moisturizer. The occlusive moisturizer is one that is oil and cream based as opposed to an oil and water mixture. It’s thicker and able to trap moisture in the skin. To get the most benefit from your moisturizer it should also include vitamins and other ingredients which keep skin supple. There are other steps you can take in conjunction with changing moisturizers in order to prevent dry skin in the winter. Winter skin care should include a routine that is religiously followed each day. The first rule of thumb is to not over wash your skin with hot drying water. Second, after a shower or bath, immediately apply the moisturizer in order to seal in the moisture just added to your skin and while the pores are opened. Third, it’s important to exfoliate your skin faithfully once a week in order to get rid of the flaking dry skin cells and uncover the newer skin which is in much better shape for dealing with the winter dry air. How to Take Care of Skin in WinterRecommended winter skin care tips can help you avoid the uncomfortable, irritating and unsightly flaking skin dry air creates. With the right moisturizer, your skin can look as healthy in the winter months as it does the rest of the year. To conclude, steps to follow in winter skin care routine:
2011 Fall & Winter Makeup Trends 10/26/2011
When it comes to makeup lasting all day, the fall and winter offer the best months since you don’t have to worry about mascara and eyeliner melting off of your face or coming off in the pool. Fall/winter is also the time when you’ll be able to experiment more with gorgeous autumnal colors and the classic smokey eye look. As for lips, you’ll want to find the right shade of red so you can complete your seasonal look. Moving past the general advice, the fall and winter makeup trends for 2011 are shaping up to be bold, sweet, soft and sexy. But before you can complete this year’s trends, you’ll need the basic tools of the trade like foundation, concealer, blush, eye shadows in natural shades, lipstick, lip gloss, brow pencil or powder, and of course mascara. Assuming you have all of this, keep reading the makeup trends for fall and winter 2011, and decide what will be your go-to look. Makeup Trends in Fall/Winter 2011Soft Makeup TrendOne of the trends for fall/winter 2011 is something everyone should be familiar with because it’s been popping up more and more amongst women and teenage girls. The look is nude, and it is a hot look for fall and winter, as well as timeless and traditional for those low maintenance days. To achieve a nude look, you’ll need clean and healthy skin that is nearly flawless. Fortunately, it’s easy to pull off a nude look if you have the correct concealer and foundation for your skin’s complexion. If you plan on going to any holiday parties, try using iridescent pink, define your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil or powder, and highlight your cheekbones. But don’t overpower the look with heavy mascara; instead, try using brown mascara rather than black. In regards to lips, you can use a nude lip color, or opt for a light red color. Bold Makeup TrendIf you were born with big beautiful eyebrows, then this is your year to shine. Strong, thick, and perfectly defined eyebrows are going to be a major trend for fall and winter 2011, and the major designers are making sure big brows get noticed. Of course, big eyebrows don’t mean messy ungroomed brows, so you still need to shape them, and keep the stray hairs at bay by tweezing regularly. You will, however, need to fill them in with an eyebrow pencil or brow powder to frame your face. An easy way to achieve a strong eyebrow is to keep your makeup natural by matching your foundation perfectly, and not wearing mascara. Use a brow comb to work brow gel over your eyebrows, and to keep the hair in place all day. Nature-Inspired TrendSome trends never go out of style, like golden eye shadows used in combination with the autumnal colors; so you can definitely expect to see these colors this season. Eye shadow colors for these upcoming fall and winter months will be inspired by nature like orange, brown, red, yellow and coral. Use strong pigments to create these stunning looks, and then use golden shades to accent the other colors. Keep your makeup simple by not wearing too much black eyeliner with this look so that you’ll glow more, without the harsh color on your waterline. Dark Makeup TrendTake your look in the opposite direction with this mysterious, dark, sexy makeup trend that will be popping up in the fall and winter. For this look, you’ll want to use eyeliner a lot more than the aforementioned trends, while using your eye shadow less. However, you don’t need to eliminate your eye shadow because you’ll still want to create the smoky eye this season; so put shadow in the outer corner of your eyes, as well as above your crease. Choose an earth-toned shadow that is iridescent to cover the eyelid. Don’t forget to cover the black shadow with the iridescent shade as well, moving from the outer corners of your eyes in to toward your nose. On your lips, apply a nude color of lipstick or gloss; for your eyelashes, use mascara in combination with a lash brush for a spider effect. Trends for your LipsEven though the fall and winter makeup trends draw most of the attention to your eyes, your lips will still make an impact on any look. Interestingly enough, it seems as though the designers are having a lover’s quarrel when it comes to lip makeup this year. Marc Jacobs is sticking with natural and simple makeup trends, while designers like Dolce&Gabbana go for a red lip. Whatever style you choose to try, be sure to match your eyes with your lips, and vice versa. Wearable Makeup TrendThe models on the catwalks seem to have only one style of makeup, and it’s red lips with smoky eyes (how to: smoky eyes tutorial). This look is great for holiday parties, dates, or other important occasions; however, it isn’t good for everyday wear. During the day, you should opt for a bold lip color, and use less eye shadow on your eyelids. Use a plumping lip balm to make your lips look fuller, and if you use a colored lipstick, use a translucent powder to set the lip color for long-lasting wear. You can also use a lip liner to fill in your lips, and then apply a matching lipstick on your lips. Finally, be sure to fill in your brows for nice bold eyebrows, and then complete the look with mascara and a light blush. Now that you know what all of the latest trends are for fall and winter 2011, you can try each look to find the one that works the best for you. And remember that the main key to having a good fall and winter makeup season is to have bold lips or eyes, but never at the same time. beauty-tips.net 12 Winter Makeup Tips 10/26/2011

beauty-tips.net How to Reduce Hair Loss After Pregnancy 10/26/2011
Pregnant women experience an abundance of new and exciting things while the baby is in their womb, as well as after giving birth. Going further, most women consider their experience as a pregnant woman to be exciting, beautiful and life-changing. But what they don’t mention are the negative side effects of pregnancy that not only affect their body, but their hair and nails as well. Postnatal hair loss is unfortunately very common, which means you can’t scoff at the possibility that it could happen to you. However, the cause for concern is limited as long as you’re prepared for this situation. Also, hair loss after pregnancy is like most of the other side effects in that they are temporary, and can make a new mom feel alone in the situation. This being said, here are some of the things you should keep in mind with regards to postnatal hair loss. Post Pregnancy Hair Loss TipsNatural Hair CycleYour hair has 3 stages of growth:
In addition to the hormone problem, it’s completely normal to see hair fall out after discontinued use of any prenatal vitamins or change in diet following birth. Another reason why you could experience hair loss during pregnancy is due to a deficiency of minerals and vitamins. To help fix both of these problems, incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet. General InformationYour hair’s natural terminal length is 5-7 years, depending on the individual. This enables hair that is in a resting phase to fall out so that new hair can grow in. But pregnancy causes the resting phase to pause, which lets current hairs keep growing. When the hormones reach a normal state again after pregnancy, the hair that was being held intact during the extended resting phase will fall out rapidly. Hair loss can take up to 6 months to get back to normal, but there are steps that you can take to keep the loss at a comfortable pace. Here is a list of things to consider trying to keep hair on your head. Common Areas of Postnatal Hair LossPostnatal hair loss is described as an overall thinning, rather than a single bald spot. But along with this, there are parts of your scalp that have more hair loss than others. You may see thinner hair around the front hairline, top of your head, behind your ears, or around your temples. Some people see a combination of major hair loss in these areas, while others will only have one or two affected areas. When is Hair Loss Serious?Since hair loss can be caused by anything from hormonal imbalances to more serious things such as malnutrition, you should bring the hair loss issue up with your doctor if it continues 6 months after the child is born. In some cases, they can prescribe simple medications for your issue, which will make you feel more at ease. It is important to mention that medications often take months to show results, and the hair loss will normally stop without the help of medicine. Avoid Pulling HairThe next piece of advice is to avoid hair styles that pull your hair taut. This includes tight ponytails, braids, weaves or cornrows. This may sound odd considering that hair can become annoying when it hangs in your face, but a simple solution is to use a hair clip instead. These hairstyles will cause hair to fall because they tend to pull and add stress on the scalp. How to Manage Wet HairUse shampoo and conditioner that contains hair-strengthening ingredients like silica biotin, or keratin. Your hair becomes incredibly vulnerable when wet, which causes it to be weak enough to break and fall out easily. When you’re dealing with wet hair, handle it with caution so as not to accidentally pull hair out. You will see best results by using a comb with large teeth on wet hair. Be Gentle with Styling ToolsUsing a blow dryer can cause a lot of stress on strands, and should be avoided whenever possible. The same concept applies to curling irons, hot rollers, and flat irons. Using these tools requires you to pull your hair taut, which is a step in the wrong direction if you want to keep hair loss to a minimum. Diet and NutritionAs mentioned before, your health is reflected through the health of your hair, skin and nails. If you’re not providing your body with enough nutrients, you may experience a large amount of hair loss after pregnancy. So include fruits and vegetables into your diet (check our article on beauty foods, great guide on foods for your hair, nails, skin and eyes); an easy way to do this is to eat at least one cup of either raw fruit or vegetables before each meal. It’s also crucial to get enough protein in your diet so that you can provide your hair follicles with nutrition and protection from the inside-out. These tips will also promote hair growth, which can be further encouraged by taking supplements like vitamin B complex, biotin, vitamin C and zinc. In the majority of cases, women who experience hair loss after pregnancy will not be able to stop it from happening completely. But by following these tips, it becomes less of a burden, and can help you get back to a normal routine without having to worry about hair loss. beauty-tips.net Vitamins That Promote Hair Growth 10/25/2011
Vitamins That Promote Hair GrowthThere are over 4 million hairs on the average human's head, and these hairs grow over periods of time known as terminal hair growth, or terminal length. The average terminal length of each hair lasts for a 6-7 year period, and then the hair falls out so it can be replaced by a new one. And it's certainly a good thing that these hairs get replaced because they keep your scalp warm – and on other parts of the body – prevent unwanted debris from entering your eyes, ears and nose. With that being said, the hair found on your head is considered to be the most important area of hair on the body! Unfortunately, many people struggle with hair loss, which robs them of the aforementioned benefits. Thinning hair or going bald is oftentimes a sign of aging, but luckily, hair loss can be slowed or even stopped altogether. If you suffer from hair loss or brittle hair, it may be caused by the improper care of your hair, or a lack of nutrients you are taking in. A person's hair and nails will oftentimes reflect the health of the individual they belong to. Fortunately, there are easier ways of adding the right amount of vitamins and minerals to your diet for healthy hair and nails. However, before taking any nutritional supplements, it's always best to consult with a physician. This is especially necessary if you are pregnant, or have diseases that could become more serious with improper usage of nutritional supplements. Now that we've established this, here is a list of vitamins you should consider incorporating into your diet for healthier hair, skin and nails. Vitamins & Minerals That Help Your Hair Grow FasterIronYour body uses iron found in red blood cells as a carrier pigeon to bring oxygen to all of the cells found in your body. If the body is deprived of iron, you could become anemic, thus causing you to feel tired or weak. When your body is weak, so is your hair, which leads to damage and breakage; so be sure to increase intake of iron after consulting your physician. Vitamin HVitamin H is also known as Biotin or vitamin B7. All of the vitamins found in the B vitamin family are crucial to healthy hair growth, so vitamin H is no different. Biotin is responsible for turning carbohydrates into energy that the body can use. You should also know that Biotin aids in metabolizing the fats and protein crucial to enhancing and strengthening hair; you can find Biotin naturally in nuts and egg yolks. Another satisfying fact about Biotin is that it may ward off grey hair and hair loss. Vitamin AVitamin A is an antioxidant important for healthy hair because it contributes to the production of sebum (oil) on your scalp. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that maintains and balances out the synthesis of retinoic acid found in your hair follicles. You'll find vitamin A naturally in meat, cheese, eggs, apricots, spinach, fish, liver oil, milk, broccoli, peaches, carrots and cabbage. Vitamin CAscorbic Acid, which is a water-soluble vitamin commonly referred to as vitamin C, is great for hair growth because it's able to build and repair tissue. It’s an antioxidant that smoothes out some of the damage which occurs with inevitable exposure to pollutants that make hair and nails brittle. If you’re not getting enough vitamin C, you may experience hangnails and brittle hair. But as always, it’s important not to take supplements without consulting a doctor beforehand. ZincZinc is not a vitamin, however, it is found in each and every cell inside of your body. For centuries we have used zinc for its ability to heal wounds quickly, and it works as an antioxidant to cut down the production of free radicals or molecules produced by everyday pollutants. If a zinc deficiency occurs, you will notice white areas on your fingernails; fortunately, this issue is easily solved with a zinc supplement of 8-11 mg. You can also eat veal liver, toasted wheat germ, sesame seeds, tahini (sesame seed butter) and dark chocolate. Make sure to speak with your doctor before adding a supplement to your diet. Vitamin EBy including vitamin E in your diet, you increase your scalp’s blood circulation. Similar to zinc and vitamin C, vitamin E is an antioxidant that can be found naturally in wheat germ oil, raw seeds and nuts, green leafy vegetables, soybeans, cold-pressed vegetable oils or dried beans. For those who have blood pressure problems, it is very important to discuss vitamin E with your doctor since it can increase blood pressure, which causes serious complications. Vitamin B5You’ll be able to find vitamin B5 in a variety of foods including the following: liver, organ meats, egg yolk and vegetables. This particular vitamin is also known as Pantothenic Acid and works in the same manor as vitamin H, and in combination, will create a strong barrier for hair loss. Vitamin B5 fights against grey hair because it contributes to melanin, which is responsible for your hair color. InositolAgain, inositol is not considered a vitamin because it's able to synthesize inside of the body, but it still plays a role in keeping hair healthy. Look for foods like cantaloupe, oranges, and melons to find inositol in its natural habitat. The reason why you want to incorporate these foods into your diet is because inositol helps your hair keep its moisture intact. Above all, remember that your hair and body go hand-in-hand; both need proper nutrients to function and maintain good health. Keeping this in mind, hair found on the body is mostly made up of protein, which is why protein should always be included in your diet. You can find protein in milk, eggs, soy products, beans and yogurt. Also, find foods rich in lecithin to make hair stronger; some foods with lecithin are wheat germ, yeast and calves liver. Simple changes to your diet such as these can reduce hair loss, and promote hair growth over time.
